Applications for Hampton Roads Pride scholarships are open to high school students and persons who are attending, or have been accepted to, an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States and who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ+), or identify with an affiliated community (including, but not limited to, Intersex, Asexual, Pansexual, Two-spirit, Nonbinary, Agender and Genderqueer) as well as LGBTQ+ allies (those who do not identify as LGBTQ+, but who are allied with and support the LGBTQ+ community).


Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and provide official transcripts from their educational institutions to: Hampton Roads Pride, Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 6118, Norfolk, VA 23501. Official transcripts must be postmarked by November 1, 2020 to be considered.


Applicants must reside in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following areas: Accomack County, Chesapeake City, Hampton City, Isle of Wight County, James City County, Newport News City, Norfolk City, Northampton County, Poquoson City, Portsmouth City, Suffolk City, Virginia Beach City, Williamsburg City, or York County.

    Submit an original essay of at least 500 and no more than 1000 words. Essay content should include your hobbies and interests with a special focus on your service to the LGBTQ+ community and/or community at-large. Please provide details on any awards or commendations you have received, your extracurricular activities, and explain your educational goals and aspirations. Additionally, share why financial assistance like this scholarship is necessary to pursue your post-secondary education.
